MAUNDY THURSDAY

The name ‘Maundy’ derives from the Latin for ‘new commandment’ – mandatum novum – which Christ (according to John) gave his disciples at the ‘Last Supper’. Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the Great Three Days, where Christ is crucified, buried and raises again on the third day.
“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  

John 13:33-35

Prayer of Confession

Most merciful God,
we your Church confess
that often our spirit has not been that of Christ.
Where we have failed to love one another as he loves us,
where we have pledged loyalty to him with our lips
and then betrayed, deserted, or denied him,
forgive us, we pray;
and by your Spirit make us faithful in every time of trial;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The prophecies and stories that prepared the way for the Lord and this Holy Week.

The service of our Lord Jesus to all those whom he came to save.

The sacrifice of our Lord Jesus on the cross.

The resurrection of Christ on EASTER SUNDAY!

Pray for these things

Salvation for those who do not believe

Freedom for those who are in bondage to sin

Inspired worship of God that is pleasing to him over the next three days.

A new and overwhelming anointing of the Holy Spirit on the people of God in our Community so we can be the Light of the World.

Growth of God’s Kingdom through the work and service of Parkway Church
