What We Believe
Very often a guest at Parkway will ask, “What do you believe? What
is your doctrinal position?” Our response would touch on these key areas:
The Bible
We believe that the books of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible constitute
the Holy Scriptures. They are the inspired and infallibly written Word of God.
The Trinity
We believe in the one living and true God who is holy, loving, eternal, and
Creator and Preserver of all things. Within this unity there are three persons of
one essential nature, power and eternity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. We believe in the
deity of Christ, His virgin birth, and His sinless life. He died on the cross and
was buried, to be a sacrifice for our sin, and to reconcile us to God through His
shed blood. Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven and is at the
right hand of God, the Father. We believe in His personal return when He will judge
the living and the dead.
Salvation
We believe that Christ’s work on the cross provides the complete redemption
and atonement for the sins of mankind. We believe each person must personally accept
what God has made possible by repenting of their sin and receiving Jesus Christ
as their personal Savior. An individual receives this new life by faith and is then
enabled to serve God with the will and affections of the heart.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling power
and fullness enables the Christian to live a Godly life in this present world.
The Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those who put
their faith in Jesus Christ are saved and will be resurrected to eternal
life. Those who do not put their faith in Jesus Christ will ultimately be lost and
eternally separated from God.
